Students
Below is a list of the students working on this project. What will you, as a student, get out of being a part of this research? First, you will get a much better educational experience than you can get in the classroom. Dave will take an individual interest in your efforts and learning. He will step you through the
Training Guide and help guide you through doing a programming project that will match your ability level and be on the cutting edge of research. You will be doing much more programming that you would be able to do in a regular course, and you will be learning new topics that are not yet taught in courses.
You will be
strongly urged to use your work on the
Illinois Bio-Grid as a masters thesis. This will help you immensely regardless of what you do after your MS degree.
- If you go into business, it will give you a highly organized packet of materials that you can give prospective employers, and will give you a large body of material that you can discuss in your interviews
- If you decide to do corporate research, it will show those employers what kind of research you can do. However, in this case, I would suggest you go on and get a Ph.D.
- If you decide to go on and get your Ph.D., this work can lead to publications and Dave will help you and guide you through the publication process. The publications and thesis will aid you to get into the Ph.D. program that you desire, and will greatly aid you in getting funding to pay for your tuition and living expenses while in the program.
In any case, you should make an appointment to discuss your career path with Dave and to discuss this research project. This group has weekly meetings and you would be more than welcome to visit us during our meetings for a few weeks before you make up your mind to join. Dave is always happy to help you with your education and your career planning, and Dave has extensive experience in the areas of education, research, and corporate programming.
