Illinois Bio-Grid Job Scheduler Proposal

Goals

Install and configure a freely available job scheduler on z-cluster and Illinois bio-grid computers for automated job distribution based on available computing resources and capacity. Provide a scheduling interface that can be used by Globus as well as portal containers for online job submission via the web. (e.g. Field museum researchers executing Mr.Bayes, PAUP, etc.)

  • Install and configure scheduler software
  • Test scheduling of jobs from command line
  • Install portal
  • Configure portal for job scheduling
  • Make portal and scheduler available to other users
