Weekly Report

• 7/7/06 -This week I met my goal of finishing a full run through of all of the 6 peptides I have with each of the three matrices. I encountered some problems with the Maldi but it seems to be functioning properly now - hopefully it just needed to be re-calibrated, which Don and I did. My goal for two weeks from now (I will be in London all of next week) is to see if by changing the mass range to ignore matrix fragmentation on the Maldi I can gather clearer data on the peptides. I also plan to start using an energy tag within the samples to monitor the internal energy of the matrix during the Maldi runs.

• 7/21/06 -This week I returned from London and jumped back into work. Much of the data from the experiments I ran before I left were contaminated from interference of the matrix. So this week I re-ran all my plates on the Maldi with a more limited mass range, and because THAP does not stay well over time I re-did all the peptides (except one) with THAP.

• 7/28/06 -This week I began a new round of data collection. I have started running all of the peptides again in order to have a larger and more reliable data set. I have run all the peptides that are left and next week I plan to finish this round of data collection after I make more peptide samples.

• 8/4/06 -This week I continued running Maldi samples. Since I'm leaving for a family vacation soon, I wanted to produce as much raw data as possible. My goal for this week (and for the next two week-days) is simply to run continual experiments with minimal analyzation. I will analyze and process the data while in Canada and upload the information via z-login.
